• Vertical Tasting

    In stock

This may be a unique event from an English Vineyard but, supporting our ethos of single vintage wines, we are thrilled to offer a Lady Elizabeth Rosé 3-pack vertical, which is made up of the silver medalled 2015, the gold medalled 2016 and the highly acclaimed new release from 2017. Each wine had 36 months on their lees, but these will all have variant time on cork depending on their vintage.  The wines are clearly different to each other and reflect the particular challenges of the summers in which the Pinot Noir was grown.  It is both informative and fun to measure them up against each other! Let us know your favourite on our Instagram for a chance to win a bottle of our first Blanc de Noirs, 'The Miller's Tale', upon release.  Use # coolhurstvertical

  • Our third Lady Elizabeth vintage is the 2016, released to the open market in January 2020. As with all our wines, the grapes were carefully selected hand-harvested fruit but in 2016 they came from a reduced yield following a difficult year with tough growing conditions.  After a couple of spring frosts we had a very poor July and August but then some stunning September and October days.  With the vines carrying less fruit, what berries there were ripened beautifully and we had a dry harvest with lovely clean fruit. An attractive pale salmon colour with a soft, fine mousse. Tangy, tangerine fruit on the front palate, and really pronounced Pinot Noir character on the finish. We are offering a special case (6 bottles) price for a limited time.
  • Our second Lady Elizabeth vintage, the 2015, came from a really interesting year for Pinot Noir.  The grapes were carefully selected hand-harvested fruit, picked much later than usual into the year.  After a cooler August and early September, there was something of an Indian summer thus we picked and whole-bunch pressed some wonderful late-ripened pinot. A mid salmon colour with a fine mousse. Bags of red fruit, cranberries and rhubarb and strawberries on the front palate, and really pronounced Pinot Noir character on the finish. This wine has been much acclaimed in the press and we are almost sold out.  The 75cl iteration won a silver medal at the Champagne and Sparkling Wine World Championships, and we will always consider this vintage as the one that announced our arrival on the English Sparkling Wine scene, following the tiny and more experimental 2014 release.  It has defined the Lady Elizabeth style, albeit that, as a single vintage and varietal, we will always be subject to the vagaries of the harvest of one season. As a rule of thumb, a magnum should be considered for at least twice as long on its lees as a 75cl bottle and so here we are, nearly six years on, and the magnums are finally ready. This is certainly the most handmade of all our releases.  Hand harvested fruit, hand riddled on a pupitre, hand disgorged and hand dosaged (with a medical syringe!) at 7g/l. Then the magnificent  giant bottles are hand labelled, hand foiled and are packed into handmade presentation boxes.  The labels are individually printed with the unique limited edition numbers, each one available by selection on a first-come-first-served basis.   NUMBER RESERVATION: Please send DM to sales@coolhurstvineyards.com to request specific number or one will be assigned.  Emails will be replied in strict order and numbers applied accordingly.  Payment secures the number!   We currently only deliver to mainland UK. We aim to deliver within 48 hours of receiving an order, although we are subject to seasonal vagrancies.  Delivery within the UK for this unique edition is included in the price. There is no additional charge for multiple orders.
  • Lady Elizabeth Sparkling Rosé 2014 – MAGNUM

    £99.99

SOLD OUT 2015 VINTAGE AVAILABLE IN 2022

The first ever release from Coolhurst was the award winning 2014 Lady Elizabeth.  We received such wonderful reviews for this debut wine and it was the wonderful beginning of our venture.  As a rule of thumb, a magnum should be considered for twice as long on its lees as a 75cl bottle and so here we are, nearly six years on, and the magnums are finally ready. This is certainly the most handmade of all our releases.  Hand harvested fruit, hand riddled on a pupitre, hand disgorged and hand dosaged (with a medical syringe!) at 8g/l. Then the magnificent  giant bottles are hand labelled, hand foiled and are packed into handmade presentation boxes.  The labels are individually printed with the unique limited edition numbers, each one available by selection on a first-come-first-served basis. The 2014 displays a seductive light salmon colour, although slightly darker than our later vintages, with our trademark soft, fine mousse. As ever there is an abundance of strawberries, redcurrants and rhubarb and a hint of tangy, orange fruit on the palate, with some spice and plenty of creaminess.  There is excellent concentration and length on the finish.   NUMBER RESERVATION: Please send DM to sales@coolhurstvineyards.com to request specific number or one will be assigned.  Emails will be replied in strict order and numbers applied accordingly.  Payment secures the number!   We currently only deliver to mainland UK. We aim to deliver within 48 hours of receiving an order, but due to Covid-19 delays this item will not start to be shipped before the week commencing 11 Jan 2021.  Delivery within the UK for this unique edition is included in the price. There is no additional charge for multiple orders.
  • This is our fourth Lady Elizabeth vintage.   The year started with a lovely warm March and April and we then had a decent summer and the quality of the fruit was fantastic.  Harvest was wet (as it ever is!) but the carefully selected hand-harvested fruit was safely away at the beginning of October. Our distinctive pale salmon colour sits alongside deliciously defined fruit.  It's the full gamut of citrus to peach with red fruit scintillation.  This wine is built to last and will benefit from extended cork aging, but nonetheless is also delicious right now and displays our trademark soft mousse and gentle acidity.   We currently only deliver to mainland UK. We aim to deliver within 48 hours of receiving an order.  Delivery within the UK costs £9.99. There is no additional charge for multiple orders (6 bottle cases or singe bottle gift boxes) going to the same address.
